Unilateral, trifocal, diaphyseal fracture of the radius with ipsilateral mid-shaft ulna fracture in an adult: a case report

چکیده
INTRODUCTION To the best of our knowledge, a trifocal, diaphyseal fracture of the radius associated with ipsilateral mid-shaft fracture of the ulna in an adult has not been reported in the literature to date. The AO classification system does not include such a fracture configuration. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case of trifocal, diaphyseal fracture of the radius with a mid-diaphyseal fracture of the ulna in a 53-year-old Caucasian, British, right-hand dominant woman involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. The management of this rare fracture configuration is described and alternative treatment options discussed. CONCLUSIONS We describe an unusual, complex fracture, which with prompt surgical treatment resulted in a rapid, full and satisfactory functional recovery for our patient.

Unilateral, Multifocal Fracture of Radial with Ipsilateral Midshaft Ulna Fracture - Two Such Unusual and Rarely Reported Cases
INTRODUCTION Diaphyseal fractures of both bones of the forearm are commonly encountered in clinical practice. Segmental radius shaft fractures are, however, less commonly seen. We hereby report two cases of segmental complex radius fracture with mid-shaft ulna fracture. Such type of cases are reported previously in children but rarely in adults. CASE REPORT In case-1, comminuted radius shaft ...
متن کاملFracture Of The Proximal Ulna In Association With An Ipsilateral Complex Distal Radius Fracture: A Case Report
Simultaneous ipsilateral distal and proximal fractures of the forearm are rare [1-3]. There have been case reports describing an olecranon fracture associated with an ipsilateral distal radius epiphyseal injury[1], a Monteggia lesion with an associated ipsilateral distal radius epiphyseal injury[4] or associated with ipsilateral distal radius and ulna metaphyseal fractures[5, 6]. Furthermore, t...
متن کاملElbow dislocation with ipsilateral radius and ulna fracture: is it so common?
Elbow dislocation with ipsilateral diaphyseal fracture of both radius and ulna is a rare injury. However, elbow dislocation with either radius or ulnar diaphyseal fracture is commonly reported. We report an uncommon injury of a 16 years old male who had his elbow dislocation with ipsilateral both bones forearm fractures. Elbow dislocation was reduced and fracture both bones were fixed with dyna...
متن کاملA Very Rare Presentation of Type 1 Monteggia Equivalent Fracture with Ipsilateral Fracture of Distal Forearm-approach with Outcome: Case Report
INTRODUCTION We report a case of Type 1 Monteggia equivalent injury with intact radio-capitellar congruity, associated with epiphyseal fracture of distal radius and distal ulna shaft in an 11-year-old boy. There are only a few cases of Monteggia or Monteggia equivalent injury with ipsilateral forearm fractures in children, and injury pattern being reported by us is not only rare but also the on...
متن کاملPosterolateral elbow dislocation with ipsilateral radial and ulnar diaphyseal fractures: a case report.
Elbow dislocation associated with both ipsilateral radial and ulnar shaft fractures is a rare pattern of injury, although it is common for elbow dislocation and forearm fractures to occur separately. We report a case of an 80-year-old woman who had a posterolateral elbow dislocation and ipsilateral radial and ulnar shaft fractures and underwent closed reduction and plate fixation. She had an ex...
